Business/Varied

"A background in business, starting in marketing and sales --
lately General Management including running a Chemical company

Likes all types of music (well, nearly all types!), hiking, keeping
reasonably fit and reading. Doesn't know much about hockey, baseball, TV
reality or chat shows. Travels quite a lot and has lived/worked in several
countries.

Three sons, three grandchildren and hoping for more -- grandchildren that
is!"

If life has taught me anything, it is that there are very few rights and
wrongs - most things come in a shade of grey that varies with the way you
and other people look at it."

Special Education/Mental Health/Varied

I am a retired teacher who taught in Special Education for 30 years. I've worked with students who had many challenges including ADHD, Autism and Asperger's Syndrome, Learning Disabilities and Intellectual Giftedness. I have two wonderful grown children who are in their late twenties who have both suffered with bouts of severe clinical depression. I have also dealt with alcoholism within my family. These experiences have given me some insight into some of the challenges people face within their lives.

I love to travel and have travelled across North America, parts of Europe, South Korea and Thailand. I love gardening, snowshoeing and reading. Since my retirement from education I have learned a lot about starting your own home business, exercise and health.

Business/Volunteering/Varied

Grew up in Peterborough, ON where I attended public school and 3yrs. of high school, then attended 2 yrs. at a private school in Whitby (now Trafalgar Castle School, formerly called when I attended Ontario Ladies College). I graduated in 1958 with B.A. Secretarial Science from University of Western Ontario (Waterloo College--now Wilfrid Laurier University). Was an at-home mom for 12 years while our children were growing up. They are now adults with families of their own and we have 4 grandchildren. Worked for many years as an executive secretary, and also had a few at-home businesses. Have been involved with volunteer work for many years when we lived in Bolton for 36 yrs. and was a 28 yr. volunteer for Caledon Community Services since it's inception, a volunteer for Caledon Hospice, Women's Learning Institute & Free At Last group. Since moving to Beeton in 2003, have been volunteer and member of Beeton Horticultural Society and South Simcoe Arts Council. Also I have been long time member of the Baha'i Faith. My interests are: reading, fitness, health, gardening, flute, painting, and love animals (have owned dogs, rabbits, fish, turtles, birds, horses, and cats (bred & showed registered Manx cats for 15 yrs.), but now owned by 2 Devon Rex cats). Hope to be able to do more travelling in future when hubby retires full time.

Volunteering/artistic interests

Living a great part of my life in Quebec Alliston has been an exciting new challenge.

My life long love of art through Interior Design, gallery visits, courses, travel and numerous creative activities have brought me closer in my appreciation of life.

Volunteering over the years has been very rewarding. I have worked with Community events, Women's Groups, Church boards, and sailing events.

Raising two sons and now having two Grandchildren a boy and girl has brought me special joy.

Hopefully can offer information and a sympathetic ear.
